I use those terms - real and truth - to reference different things. Something being "true" or not is kind of conceptual, and possibly unattainable in any final or absolute sense, whereas what is real exists separately from that.
Something is "real" if it exists apart from any awareness of it. "Blue" is not real, it's a label for a phenomenal experience. A rock is presumably real, since it _is_ even if all animal life vanished from Earth.
A statement might be judged to be "true" if it accurately corresponds with someone's experience, but experience is never the thing itself, never "reality."
My reasoning is probably flawed somewhere, but it's working for me at the moment.
Thanks for inviting us once again to eves drop as you dip your toe into what I feel are deeply interesting and important topics around making sense of our existence.
As you both spoke about Elon I wondered how, perhaps, rather than a matrix/simulation approach, his comments/thoughts might be interpreted through the lens of Advaita Vedanta or Kashmir Shaivism and the concepts of Sat, Chit, Ananda.. I've heard you speak of Neti Neti previously so know these terms will be familiar to you.
In terms of 'what is real', it would be great to hear your take on tracing things back to the Upanishads and speaking to non-duality. And, if/how/when you might bring a non-dual perspective into your work with clients (where appropriate).
All fascinating stuff and I look forward to hearing more.
Hi James, just a point to note, it would be useful if you could audio describe at times.
For instance you say something like : I hold my hands like this... and even though it may not be necessary to illustrate your point, it can be frustrating when listening to an audio. It's a little bit like leaving an open loop, as I now want to know how you hold your hands! 🤣
True! In this instance the clip is taken from a video conversation so that wouldn’t be in mind at the time. If you watch the latest Tripp and Crowe (#15) on YouTube, you should be able to see the moment!
Really enjoying the podcast. Have had your HWT training and find great value in applying these concepts to the arena of product work. Now I need to get your book!

Seems like a fair enough rendering!

Thanks Kevin - there are many takes on the whole ‘reality’ bit and I may well come back in at it from another direction at some point!
